The mortar applicator has an upper filler opening (5) for the plaster (2) and a slider (7) in the base which is arranged and guided so that plaster can be released and held back by moving the slider in the surface plane of the bricks perpendicular to the direction of movement (s) of the applicator. A toothed strip which is bent outwards is set vertically adjustable in the outlet opening area for the mortar. A side guide rail is used to guide the applicator over the bricks.
