A device for detachably joining structural members such as furniture components, a door leaf and a door frame, a window sash and a window frame, wherein the device has connecting parts made in the form of a male part and a female part respectively. The device is characterised in that at least one of the connecting parts is designed to be capable of insertion with at least one portion thereof into a hole adapted to the circumference thereof in the associated structural member; that at least one sector of the circumference of the connecting part is made having projecting gripping flanges; and that said hole is so designed that when the connecting part is turned in the hole through an angle equal to the angular extent of the gripping flanges, the gripping flanges will cut their way into the material of the structural member and thus secure the connecting part in the structural member.
