The novel equipment forms a plastic cladding or skin for an automobile component. A moulding shell is used in a first stage of skin formation. A zone (3) of this shell is masked (2). A first plastic (5) depositor (4) coats another, unmasked zone (6), to form the first section (7) of skin. During a second stage, once the mask has been taken away, a second plastic depositor coats another plastic onto both the first and second zones, hence overcoating the first layer. Thus the skin includes a bonded, overlapping layer and two single layers, the whole forming a single piece. Novel features include the depositors, comprising two open-ended tubs (4) accepting plastic and fitting the shell. These are used in rotary moulding operations, which form the coatings. The first tub (4) includes a screen (12) masking the first zone (3), keeping it clear of plastic in the first stage. The mask is mounted to and dismounted from the moulding shell, together with the first tub. |
