PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decompose and remove pollutants contained in marine alluvial soil by microbiological activity. SOLUTION: In a method for purifying polluted soil by microorganisms, at first, calcium carbonate is sprinkled over a polluted soil area 3, over which oil 2 being a pollutant is distributed, of soil 1 formed from marine alluvial soil as an alkali neutralizing agent. Next, a phosphate becoming a nutrient source of microorganisms is added if necessary and the polluted soil area 3 is excavated to be temporarily placed on the ground as excavated soil 5. During the period when the excavated soil 5 is temporarily placed, stirring/mixing work is continuously or intermittently performed if necessary by a cultivator so as not to lower the activity of microorganisms and air is always supplied to microorganisms in the excavated soil 5. After the decomposition treatment of oil 2 by microorganisms is completed, the treated soil 6 is returned to the excavated part.
