ANTIFOULING PAINT COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which shows good film properties and water proof and maintains antifouling property for a long term by making the composition contain a copolymer obtained from an organosilicon-containing monomer, a hydroxyl group-containing monomer and other ethylenic unsaturated monomer as a vehicle. SOLUTION: A composition of the present invention contains a copolymer as a vehicle having a weight average molecular weight of 10×103-20×104 obtained from a mixture of monomers comprising 10-80 wt.% of an organic silicon-containing monomer represented by formula I, 0.1-30 wt.% of a hydroxyl groupcontaining monomer represented by formula II and/or an oligomer thereof and 19.9-80 wt.% of another ethylenic unsaturated monomer such as a methyl (meth)acrylate and the like. The paint composition is obtained by mixing 1-80 wt.% of an antifouling agent, 1-50 wt.% of a pigment and 5-80 wt.% of the vehicle (wherein R1 is hydrogen or methyl; R2-R4 are alkyl, aryl or the like; R5 is hydrogen or methyl; R6 and R7 are each 2-6C alkylene, phenylene or the liked; m is 0-20; and n is 0-20; and m+n >=1).
