PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desuperheater which has a short evaporating distance and can make the space of a plant compact. SOLUTION: A desuperheater is provided with a pipeline 10 for passing steam, orifices 12 which are provided in series in a plurality of stages in the pipeline 10, and a water injecting means 14 which injects water into a stagnating area 13 on the downstream side of the orifice 12 in the uppermost stream stage, accelerates temperature drop by evaporating mist in the stagnating area 13, and shortens the evaporating distance by atomizing the mist with high-speed air flows when the mist passes through the orifices 12 so that the mist may be evaporated easily. Therefore, the desuperheater can make a plant having short piping compact.
