PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a higher working efficiency in the lining of the internal surface of a chimney with a cylindrical body for lining. SOLUTION: In this lining method, a strip-shaped protective plate material 1 of a cylindrical body 4 for lining is bent spirally so as to make parallel end parts across the width thereof adjacent to each other and continuously supplied to a lower space E in a chimney where the adjacent upper and lower end parts are linked together to assemble. The cylindrical body thus assembled is moved to a specified height position in the chimney and fixed therein.
