PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain the subject compound useful as a silane coupling agent or a modified silicone in high addition position selectivity by hydrosilylating an aromatic vinyl compound with a hydridochlorosilane compound by the catalytic action of platinum in the presence of a carboxylic acid compound. SOLUTION: This method for producing an aromatic chlorosilane compound comprises hydrosilylating an aromatic vinyl compound (preferably styrene, vinylnaphthalene or vinylfuran) with a hydridochlorosilane compound by the catalytic action of platinum or a platinum compound (for example, platinum carried on activated carbon) in the presence of a carboxylic acid compound (preferably a carboxylic acid or a carboxylic acid silylation product) preferably in an amount of 0.01-20 wt.% in the reaction system. The hydridochlorosilane compound is preferably a compound of the formula: HnSiRmCl(4-n-m) [(n) is 1 or 2; (m) is 0-2; 4-(n)-(m)>=1; R is a 1-10C organic group] (for example, trichlorosilane).
