Esters or phenol ethers of the formula (I) or (II), in which individual symbols have their meanings stated in the Description, are suitable for stabilising organic material against the damaging influence of light, oxygen and/or heat. A process for the preparation of said esters or phenol ethers of the formula (I) or (II) by reacting piperidine compound with carboxylic acid or with phenol at from 30 to 180 degrees Celsius. The composition contains said ester or phenol ether and a synthetic polymer or a mixture of synthetic polymers.
