PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the leakage of gas and permit the specifying of a factor for the pressure fluctuation of gas. SOLUTION: A plasma melting furnace is constituted of a plasma electrode 2, provided in the upper part of a furnace main body so as to penetrate through the furnace main body, and a cap 20 for supplying inert gas into the furnace from the upper end of the plasma electrode 2 through the inside of the plasma electrode 2 and provided at the upper end of the plasma electrode 2. In this case, the cap 20 is provided with a seal member 22, abutted against the upper end outer periphery of the plasma electrode 2 with a pressure by the supply of the inert gas, on the inner periphery of a flange unit while the supplying system of the inert gas is provided by dividing the same into a system, for introducing the inert gas from the top of the cap 20 into the plasma electrode 2, and another system, for introducing the inert gas into the seal member unit.
