PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing steel having improved rolling life and to manufacture a bearing product with high reliability by reducing the dispersion of life as well as improving rolling life. SOLUTION: This steel has an alloy composition consisting of, by weight, 0.6-1.5% C, 0.3-3.0% Si, 0.3-1.5% Mn, 0.1-3.0% Ni, 0.3-5.0% Cr, 0.005-0.050% Al, 0.003% Ti, <=0.03% P, <=0.03% S, <=0.0015% O, <=0.015% N, and the balance essentially Fe, and further, the amount of existence of alumina clusters of >=0.5 mm length is regulated to <=10-3 pieces/mm3. In addition to the above alloy components, either or both of 0.03-1.5% Mo and 0.05-1.0% V can be added.
