PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a heat pipe in which no noncondensable gas remains without varying the outside dimension of the pipe. SOLUTION: At the time of manufacturing a heat pipe 10 by closing the communicative port 4 of a container 1 with a gas retaining section 7 and separating and removing the section 7 from the container 1 after a noncondensable gas in the container 1 is retained in the section 7 by heating the container 1, the measured weight of the container 1 including the gas retaining section 7 is compared with the sum of the measured weights of the heat pipe 10 and separated and removed retaining section 7. When no difference exists between the former and latter, it is confirmed that the noncondensable gas remains in the heat pipe 10. When the latter is lighter than the former, on the other hand, it is confirmed that the noncondensable gas does not remain in the pipe 10.
