PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine tachometer which uses electromagnetic waves as a medium and supplies electric power from an alternator to the meter body and also supplies revoling speed pulse signals from an engine speed sensor to the meter body without depending upon wirings, etc. SOLUTION: An engine tachometer is equipped with a meter body 10 installed removably on the upper wall of an instrument panel and a transmitter 20 which transmits the electric power from alternator G to the meter body 10 using electromagnetic waves as a medium and also transmits revolving speed pulse signals to the meter body 10 using infrared rays as a medium. The meter body 10 operates on the basis of the electric power given by the transmitter 20 and displays the engine speed in conformity to the transmitted signal.
