<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of stably producing the artificial lightweight aggregate having properties of <=2.0% in a water absorption percentage, of <=8.0% in a pressurized water absorption percentage, and of <=1,000 N in a crushing strength, even if coal ashes having different chemical compositions, etc., are used. SOLUTION: This method for producing an artificial lightweight aggregate comprises pelletizing a mixture comprising coal ashes, an adhesive material and other inorganic substances to be added, if required, wherein the mixture has the maximum particle diameter of <=100μm, an average particle diameter of 5-20μm, a SiO2 content of 45-75%, an Al2O3 content of 10-30% and one or more other components in an amount of 10-30%, heating the pelletized mixture so that the content of the combustible reducing substance in the pelletized mixture reaches <=1% until the temperature rises up to 1100 deg.C, baking and foaming the palletized mixture at 1150-1350 deg.C, and gradually cooling the foamed and baked mixture down to 800 deg.C at the cooling rate of <=300 deg.C/min.</p> |
