The storage tank (1) has external insulation (2) and the heat exchanger (3) within it has a spiral formation. It comprises a conduit system consisting of seven part conduits (4) which are located inside a feed conduit (5) for cold water, which issues into the tank via radial outflow apertures (6). Also inside the tank a discharge conduit (7) commences, conducting hot tap water to a usage location. From the hot water source, such as a boiler, hot water reaches the part conduits of the heat exchanger. At the same time, cold water to be heated reaches the feed conduit. A counter flow takes place between the cold water and the hot water. At the location of the radial outflow apertures tap water which is already heated flows into the storage tank.
