PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat a great amount of metallic sodium without releasing a great amount of hydrogen gas as in the conventional apparatus. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a reactor container 21, in which metallic sodium is contained, a waste recovery tank 27 for recovering sodium carbonate 22 generated by an reaction of carbon dioxide gas containing water content with the metallic sodium 22, a filter 31 for removing dust of the sodium carbonate 26, a circulation blower 30 for circulating the dust of the sodium carbonate 26, a recombination device 29 in which a catalyst 28 for converting oxygen and hydrogen to moisture, is contained, and a feed gas heat remover 24. The reacting container 21, the water recovery tank 27, the filter 31, the circulating blower 30, the recombination device 29, and the feed gas heat remover 24 constitute a circulating gas system. Further, a mixed gas feed line 35 for feeding a mixed gas of carbonic acid gas and oxygen which are consumed by the reaction is equipped.
