PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten operating time by estimating the draining condition of fully automated washing from draining time between tow predetermined levels of water in a draining stroke if the amount of clothing is large or if the amount of clothing is large and the quality of cloth is such that it is likely to bear water, and setting the intermittent operation control time of a dewatering stroke to be short if the draining condition is good. SOLUTION: When detection of the amount of cloth or both the amount and quality of cloth indicates that the amount of clothing is large or that the amount of clothing is large and that the quality of the cloth is such that it is likely t bear water, the draining condition of fully automated washing is estimated from draining time between two predetermined levels of water during a draining stroke, and if the draining condition is good the intermittent operation control time of a dewatering stroke is set to a short one. When the draining condition of the fully automated washing is good irrespective of the amount and quality of clothing, the intermittent dewatering time of the dewatering stroke shortens and therefore the electric energy consumed ca be reduced because of reductions in operating time and motor current-carrying time.
