<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove an offensive odor component biologically effectively and efficiently even during the breeding period of a microorganism. SOLUTION: A microorganism is attached or immobilized to a carrier comprising a porous carrier having an open cell structure with 0.1-3 mm average pore diameter and activated carbon having 0.001-0.5 mm average particle diameter supported on the carrier to carry out deodorization. The activated carbon may be supported in the pores of the porous carrier by using a binder so as to ventilate the carrier. The amount of the activated carbon retained is 0.5-100 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the porous carrier. At the initial stage of the treatment of a gas to be treated, an offensive odor component can be removed by the activated carbon and then by the microorganism.</p> |
