LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. crystal display which can display uniform images without exhibiting unevenness in display in the whole display region by specifying the amt. of a specific benzil compd. contained in a liq. crystal compsn. sealed into a liq. crystal panel. SOLUTION: This liq. crystal display has a liq. crystal panel which is prepd. by sealing liq. crystal compsn. into the space between two facing substrates provided that the liq. crystal compsn. contains at least one benzil compd. represented by the formula (wherein R and R' are each H or CH3S-) in an amt. of about 1γ/g or lower. The display is produced by injecting a liq. crystal compsn. contg. at least one benzil compd. represented by the above-mentioned formula into the space between two facing substrates, applying an ultraviolet- curable sealant contg. a photoreaction initiator to the sealing port of the liq. crystal compsn., and irradiating the applied sealant with ultraviolet rays in such an integrated quantity of radiated ultraviolet rays that the amt. of the benzil compd. which is formed by the ultraviolet irradiation and is dissolved out is about 1μg/g or lower.
