PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coloring a building material by which it is possible to perform the coloring it easily and stably and improve the recovery rate of dye and a building material coloring device to be used therefor. SOLUTION: In the method for coloring a building material by which only recessed parts formed in the surface of the building material are dyed, the building material is introduced through a building material inlet 5 in the building material coloring device 1 and a dye 17 with which a dye application roller 11 is impregnated is applied to the surface of the building material while the dye application roller 11 provided inside the building material coloring device 1 is rotated. Further a dye wiping device 19 provided in a building material discharge port 7 is brought into contact with the dye-applied face of the building material passing through the dye application roller 11, and the dye remaining on only the surface of the building material excepting the recessed parts is wiped by the sliding action of the dye wiping means 19 with the dye-applied face.
