PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exothermic element for liquid fuel vaporization consisting of a porous ceramic body containing each specific amount of La, Ca and Cr so as to efficiently vaporize a fuel in a short time and prevent deposition of incompletely combusted components to effect longer service life of the vaporizer constituted of the above exothermic element. SOLUTION: This exothermic element for liquid fuel vaporization is such one as to consist of a porous body of a ceramic material shown by the formula: La1-xCax+yCrO3 (0.1<=(x)<=0.7; 0<(y)<=0.05) which is designed preferably so as to be 10-50% in porosity and 50-200μm in pore size. The surface of this porous body is coated with a metal or ceramic to make an electrode part and an insulation part. Owing to the pores of the porous body, a liquid fuel is impregnated into these pores and then evaporated; thereby the fuel can be vaporized efficiently; the pores may be open or closed ones, being designed to be optimum according to the service requirements.
