PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a false-twister capable of eliminating the variation of yarn quality among wound packages. SOLUTION: This false-twister is provided with a false-twisting device 17 to apply false-twist to a yarn, a 1st feed roller 4 placed at the upstream-side of the false-twisting device 17 and a proportional controller 30 for yarn tension to automatically control the yarn tension by controlling the rotational speed of the 1st feed roller 4 in such a manner as to keep the ratio of the upstream- side yarn tension T0 (or T1) to the downstream-side yarn tension T2 within a prescribed range. The false-twister may be further provided with a downstream-side yarn tension controlling apparatus 40 to automatically control the tension by operating the false-twisting device 17 in such a manner as to keep the yarn tension T2 at the downstream-side of the false-twisting device 17 within a prescribed range.
