PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon monoxide remover capable of maintaining a carbon monoxide selectively oxidizing catalyst approximately at a fixed temperature, consequently retaining a highly catalytic activity, suppressing the consumption of hydrogen to a minimum, cooling the catalyst in high heat conductivity, consequently being miniaturized, further effectively utilizing heat removed by the cooling, therefore raising the whole heat efficiency. SOLUTION: This carbon monoxide remover is equipped with a catalytic reaction chamber 12 which is charged with a carbon monoxide selectively oxidizing catalyst 11 and through which a modified gas 6 containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen and a coolant chamber 14 adjoined through a partition wall 13 to the catalytic reaction chamber. Pressurized water 7a preheated to >= the lowest reaction temperature of the catalyst is supplied to the coolant chamber 14 so as to cover the partition wall and the pressure of the coolant chamber is set so that the boiling temperature of a pressurized saturated steam 7b reaches the optimum reaction temperature of the carbon monoxide selectively oxidizing catalyst 11. |
