PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment for printing a cover of a book by hot stamping and a foil sheet which make it unnecessary to set types, enable very simple execution of printing and, accordingly cost reduction. SOLUTION: Equipment for printing a cover of a book by hot stamping comprises a character image forming part 1 which forms image signals of characters and others to be printed, a character printing part 2 which prints the characters with toner on a material 3 to be the cover of the book on the basis of the formed image signals of the characters and others and a bonding part 6 which puts a foil sheet 5 excellent in the adhesion to the toner on the cover material whereon the characters are printed and presses these with heat. By peeling the foil sheet 5 from cover material cloth 4 taken out of the foil bonding part 6, printing by the hot stamping is completed.
