PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latch lock which in either case where the opening direction of a door is right and left (or inward and outward), can be corresponded with a common part and locked and unlocked. SOLUTION: A protrusive stripe part 38 engageable in a latch guide 6 is severally axial-symmetrically formed on the upper and the lower face of a latch head 3 centering around the center line in getting in and out directions of the latch head 3, and the latch head 3 is attached with vertical turning over according to the opening direction of a door D. In addition, a locking and unlocking mechanism which is equipped with a latch stopper 91 to protrude into a latch accommodating section 5 for checking the retreat of the latch head 3; a lock lever 92 to be made frequent appearances in the larch accommodating section 5; and a thumb-turn connecting body 94 to interlock with the operation of thumb-turn provided in either of the inside or outside of a door D for actuating the lock lever 92 is provided in a lock case side by side.
