PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment apparatus and method for incinerator exhaust gas capable of suppressing production of dioxins by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: In an exhaust gas treatment apparatus provided with a waste heat recovery system 2 for recovering heat from an exhaust gas of an incinerator 1 guided to the system from the incinerator 1, and an adsorption reactor 4 packed with a carbonaceous adsorbent for adsorbing a hazardous substance and connected to a downstream side of the waste heat recovery system 2 and a regenerator 5 for heating and regenerating the adsorbent in the adsorption reactor 4, a desorbed gas supply line L10 for guiding into the incinerator 1 a desorbed gas produced in the regenerator 5 by heating regenerating the adsorbent is provided.
