Solid lumps of wax are loaded between downwards convergent surfaces, one or more of which can be heated to melt the wax so that it runs out of the lower gap between the surfaces to pass through a strainer into a collecting bin. The convergent surfaces may comprise a cone, centralised within a circular sieve with a wall in the form of an inverted cone.
