PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhibit damping characteristics corresponding to the traveling amount of respective components of a human body by fitting airbags for a head restraint and a chest restraint. SOLUTION: This airbag device consists of an impact detecting sensor 1 detecting the impact of a vehicle, a gas generator 2 operating based on a signal from the impact detecting sensor 1, and an airbag 3 inflated and developed by the gas from the gas generator 2, wherein the airbag 3 is constituted of an upper airbag 31 restraining a head (H) mainly and a lower airbag 32 restraining a chest (C) mainly, which are fitted in separated and divided conditions. The damping characteristics of a vent hole 311 fitted at the upper airbag 31 and those of a vent hole 321 formed at the lower airbag 32 are made different from each other.
