PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the operating rate of ink jet recorder by preventing print operation from being interrupted when an ink cartridge reaches ink end. SOLUTION: At least a pair of ink cartridges B1, B2 for supplying the same color of ink are loaded and an ink jet recording head 3 is supplied with ink alternatively from the cartridges B1, B2 through ink supply valves 25a, 25b. When an ink end detecting means 27 detects a fact that any one of the cartridges has reached ink end, a valve on/off control means 29 switches the valves 25a, 25b and an ink end informing means 28 informs ink end. |
