PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for a fire shutter which applies a brake to stop the drop of the shutter if the shutter collides against some obstacle when naturally falling and closing at the detection of a fire. SOLUTION: A fixed seat plate 3 is provided at the lower end of a shutter curtain 1 and a movable seat plate 4 is vertically movably attached to the fixed seat plate 3. A linear member 5 for actuating the brake of a switch 7 is stretched inside a guide rail 2, and when the movable seat plate 4 collides against an obstacle, a sliding member 8 provided on the fixed seat plate 3 is advanced to sandwich the linear member 5 between the sliding member 8 and a receiving part to pull the linear member 5 down, with the brake actuated to stop the drop of the shutter curtain 1.
