PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally compensate and to print without reducing the line feed accuracy by changing the compensation quantity according to a quantity for eliminating the sag by paper feeding, namely the rate of the saturation value of the sag. SOLUTION: When a paper feed control part 1 feeds paper sheets to control the paper feed in a printer, a signal for expressing the paper position is inputted, a paper feed compensation position recognition means 10 receives it to judge whether it corresponds the compensation position set in a memory 3, and when it corresponds the compensation position, a position corresponding paper feed quantity deciding means 11 takes out the compensation quantity set corresponding to the compensation position of the memory 3 to feed it to a drive means 12. The drive means 12 issues a paper feed control signal including the fed compensation quantity to output it to the paper feed mechanism 2. To find the compensation value corresponding to the compensation position set in the memory 3, the compensation characteristics of the sag of the paper sheets are measured. A sag saturation value measuring means 13 is provided for this reason.
