PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a dropped object falling in a running clearance from dropping down in a hoist way, by mounting a block plate turnably on a car side, also providing an operating cylinder turning this block plate to block/open the running clearance. SOLUTION: A cylinder 4 is provided in a car side sill 2. A pin 7 is mounted in an arm mounted in a rod 5 of the operating cylinder 4, and this pin 7 is fitted into a slot 8a formed in a link 8. A long and narrow plate-shaped block plate 14 is mounted in this link 8 through a support shaft 9 mounted turnably in the car side sill 2. When a car is landed in a landing, the rod 5 is moved downward by driving the operating cylinder 4. Then, the block plate 14 is turned in the clockwise direction through the link 8 and the support shaft 9, and a running clearance t is blocked by positioning the block plate 14 in a horizontal direction. In this way, a dropped object falling in the running clearance t can be stopped by the block plate 14.
