PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent materials carried by a carrier means from being burnt by closing a fireproof means, when a fire occurs in some area in traveling the carrier means, and by blocking a fire area after traveling and retreating the carrier means to a non-fire area. SOLUTION: A controller 13 travels a linear motor drive type carrier 4 on a rail 3 via a linear controller 17 by a carrier command from a station and opens all the fireproof dampers 11 beforehand via a fireproof recognition device 15 so as to pass the carrier 4 traveling on the each rail 3. When a smoke detector 12 detects smoke by a fire in a fireproof area Y in traveling materials to be carried by the carrier so as to output the detection signal to the controller 13, the detection signal in the fireproof area Y is outputted to the fire recognition device 15 via a selecting device 14. The fire recognition device 15 outputs the fire signal to the linear controller 17 and the each fireproof damper 11, opens all the fireproof dampers 11, controls the carrier 4 to retreat to a non-fire area X and then closes the each fireproof damper 11.
