1,221,715. Scouring raw wool. VEPA A.G. 20 Nov., 1968 [1 Dec., l967], No. 55005/68. Heading D1L In the continuous scouring of raw wool in a bath by passing first through a floating zone and then through a submerged zone below a sieve drum 5 partially immersed in the bath, liquid flows into the sieve drum as a result of the differential liquid level in the drum and the bath, passes into a collecting container 8 at at least one end of the drum, and is recycled to the bath via a removable pump 9 at the base of the collecting container and a distribution box 10 extending across the whole working width of the bath. Collecting containers may be arranged one at each end of the drum having separate distribution boxes or there may be a single divided distribution box. A plurality of drums 5 arranged in series may have a common collecting container and pump. As shown, raw wool 12 is treated by passage under a plurality of sieve drums 5 in a bath 3 having perforated base 2, each drum having a collecting container 8, pump 9 and distribution box 10. After treatment, the wool passes between squeeze rolls 17.
