1,235,926. Pelletizing machine. USM CORP. 12 July, 1968 [13 July, 1967], No. 33398/68. Heading B5A. A rotary table pelletizing machine of the multiple die-opposed plunger type, wherein suction is applied to the dies at the feed station so that the dies may be filled with a slurry containing nitrocellulose fibres from a circulating supply. The top and bottom plungers 20, 22, Fig. 2, are actuated by cams and pressure rollers 40, 48. The slurry is stirred in a storage vat and is circulated by a pump through a feed head 84 through supply and return lines. The dies at the feeding station and at least one die in advance of the feeding station are connected to a source of vacuum via bores 96, 98, Fig. 6. The dies then pass through a trimming station wherein the excess material is removed by a jet of water, the water being recirculated and the excess nitrocellulose precipitated therefrom. The faces of the opposed plungers are shaped to give a pellet D Fig. 7. After ejection of the pellet by the lower plunger the pellet is raised by a blast of air and moved by a water jet into a wire mesh container or conveyer. |
