A first sheet comprises a sheet (3), with a pressure-sensitive adhesive coating (5). A second sheet comprises a base sheet (13), with a coloured surface (11), a pressure-sensitive opaque coating (9), darker than and contrasting in colour with the coloured surface, and a transparent release coating (7), overlying the opaque layer and in contact with the adhesive layer of the first sheet. The base sheet may be of paper or plastics. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), there are three or more sheets, the intermediate sheets having layers 11, 9 and 7 on one side and 5 on the other. In use, a desired legend is written or typed on the first sheet, which is then stripped off to form the label &c., and leave a legible copy on the second or each other sheet. The sheet 13 may be made strong enough to remain uncut when a die is used to cut the sheet 3 to divide the assembly into separate labels &c.</p> |
