PURPOSE: A function selecting method for an electronic apparatus is provided to possibly perform a specific function even though a similar word disagreed with a word corresponding to the specific function is inputted in the electronic apparatus. CONSTITUTION: The method is performed in the electronic apparatus which has a central process unit and a read only memory in which a function selection algorithm is stored, and comprises the steps of: detecting, if a word indicative of a specific function is inputted to select the specific function, the word inputted thus in a word list, transforming the inputted word to a predetermined code when the inputted word is detected in the word list, and selecting the specific function in response to the transformed code. Thereby, although the similar word is inputted, the specific function can be selected if the similar word exists in the word list.
