PURPOSE: A picture display method of a middle tone and an apparatus thereof are provided to appropriately remove the outline noises in the picture displayed in a display panel. CONSTITUTION: The picture display method of the middle tone comprises: a signal inputting device to input an image signal; an address driving device to drive address electrodes on a plasma display panel by the image signal; a frame memory to temporarily store the image signal; a sustain driving device to drive sustain electrodes on the plasma display panel; a state detecting device to detect a state of the picture from the image signal; a control device to control the sustain driving device.
