PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to automatically detect and skip a non-signal channel within a television for user's convenience. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a signal detector, a controller and an OSD generator. The signal detector detects an output signal from image detector(450), and outputs a detection signal whether a corresponding channel has a signal or not. The controller supplies a tuning control signal to a tuner according to the output from signal detector so that another channel is received if the corresponding channel has no signal. Also, the controller supplies a OSD drive signal to the OSD generator. According to the OSD drive signal from the controller, the OSD generator supplies an OSD data to a CRT(600) of television for informing that the skipped channel has no signal.
