The rivet has a tubular shaped shank, which at one axial end has a flange and at its other axial end sharp projections pointing in an axial direction. The projections (13) are arranged at a distance to each other circumferentially, such that edges (27) of the shank (25) are formed, running between the projections in a circumferential direction. The length of the projections in the axial direction of the shank, is smaller than the radius of the shank. The number of the projections is three. The projections are triangular in shape.
