PURPOSE: An eliminating circuit of a semiconductor memory is provided to increase the efficiency of the semiconductor memory by substituting a prepared memory cell for the memory cell when occurring the defect of the memory cell. CONSTITUTION: An eliminating circuit of a semiconductor memory comprises: the 1st row eliminating circuit(335) for outputting the 1st mat selective signal; the 2nd row eliminating circuit(340) for outputting the 2nd mat selective signal; an eliminating circuit control unit for generating the 1st mat selective enable signal and the 2nd mat selective enable signal; a mat selective signal control unit for selectively outputting one of the 1st and the 2nd mat selective signals; a column eliminating circuit(355) for outputting the 1st and the 2nd mat eliminating signals and judging signal of eliminating; Y-decoder(325) for outputting the normal selective signal and an eliminating column selective signal.
