PURPOSE: A hands-free apparatus and method are provided to improve audio performance and user's convenience. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a cellular phone(30), a hands-free part(10), a window actuator(40) and an audio part(20). The cellular phone(30) transmits and receives phone signals. In a reception mode, the hands-free part(10) converts a phone signal from the cellular phone(30) into a digital signal by a voice encoder, outputs the converted signal with predetermined control signals. In a transmission mode, the hands-free part(10) converts the microphone signal into an analog or digital signal by the voice encoder, and outputs the converted signal with predetermined control signals. The window actuator(40) closes a window in a car according to the control signal from the hands-free part(10). The audio part(20) converts front speakers into transmission speakers, converts the digital signal from the hands-free part(10) into a voice signal, outputs the voice signal to the front speakers, and reduces volume of rear speakers.
