PURPOSE: A system and method for compatible converting a trunk signal is provided to improve compatibility of trunk signals of E1/T1 type. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a controller(10), a PLL(12), a look-up table(14) and buffer memories(20, 26). The controller(10) performs a channel matching of trunk signals between E1 and T1 types, converting signal data and signaling bits. The PLL(12) supplies a frequency signal for compatible converting trunk signals of E1/T1 type. The look-up table(14) stores data for converting signal data of trunk signals between E1 and T1 types. The buffer memories(20, 26) reduce frame-phase difference of trunk signals between E1 and T1 types for the controller(10).
