FILTERING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To prevent breakage of a ceramic tube at a time of start-up of operation in a filter of molten metal. CONSTITUTION:An inlet 3 and an outlet 19 of molten metal are formed respectively in the upper position of a filter chamber 2 shaped into a square chamber. Filter units 4 having ceramic tubes 7 are provided to the inside of the filter chamber 2. A molten metal introducing chamber 17 surrounded by a surrounding frame 16 is formed between the inlet 3 and the filter chamber 2 so that molten metal supplied from the inlet 3 directly falls on the ceramic tubes 7 but these ceramic tubes 7 are not damaged when the filter chamber 2 is in a vacant state. The filter chamber 2 is communicated with the chamber 17 by a communication port 18 formed in the lower part of the surrounding frame 16.
