PURPOSE: An apparatus to monitor and detect an optic channel error is provided to increase number of channels in a wavelength variation range of a wavelength division multiplexing system. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a wide range LED signal source(210), a wave length stabilization laser source(220), an optic-coupling distributor(252), an optic-wavelength variation filter(230), optic receivers(241, 242), an optic distributor(251), a processor(260), an optic coupler(270) and an etalon resonator(280). The wide range LED signal source(210) supplies an optic-wavelength power of wide range. The wave length stabilization laser source(220) is stabilized by an absolute reference wavelength, and supplies a reference pulses. The optic-coupling distributor(252) couples a output signal from the wave length stabilization laser source(220) with a wavelength division multiplexing signal, and distributes a signal from the wavelength variation filter(230). The optic-wavelength variation filter(230) outputs a signal of predetermined wavelength. The optic receivers(241, 242) converts an optic signal from an optic fiber into an electric signal. The optic distributor(251) distributes an input light signal to each optic fiber. The processor(260) analyzes signals from the optic receivers(241, 242) by the optic wavelength and optic power of each wavelength division multiplexing channel, and generates a monitor signal. The optic coupler(270) protects external light sources for the wide range LED signal source(210). The etalon resonator(280) outputs a signal of predetermined frequency interval with a resonance mode from the wide range LED signal.
