PURPOSE: A method for reducing a call load in a mobile communication system divides a position registration area size of a mobile station into two levels, and reduces a call load. CONSTITUTION: If a counter(20) counts the number of a position registration message transmissions of a mobile station every unit time, the call load reducing method compares the counted value with NH. If the counted value is higher than NH, the call load reducing method requests the mobile switching center to greatly allocate a position area of the mobile station. Then, the call load reducing method compares the counted value with NL, and requests the mobile switching center to little allocate a position area of the mobile station if the counted value is lower than NL. Accordingly, the call load reducing method indicates a request message in a position registration message, transmits a position registration message, and thus reduces a call load.
