PURPOSE: A VCR tape position control method is provided to solve the problems of conventional VISS(video index search system) and VASS(video address search system) techniques. CONSTITUTION: The method includes counting and recording VISS signals on a tape in the first stage of reservation recording, recording a TV program at the completion of is inputted at the completion of the writing the counted VISS signals, checking whether a reservation recording confirm key reservation recording, displaying reservation recording status menus associated with VISS numbers on an OSD(on-screen display) portion of a display screen when the reservation recording confirm key is inputted, checking whether a user inputs a VISS number, and controlling a deck part of the VCR so as to move the head of the VCR to a position on the tape in which the VISS number is recorded.
