<p>PURPOSE: A system with a revised aeration unit is provided to treat wastewater by aerobic digestion of organic wastes by microorganisms. CONSTITUTION: The aeration unit for the wastewater treating system comprises a sealed tank(30)having an open cylinder(70) suspended in the middle and braced by bars(74) fixed to the tank(30) wall to mix air and wastewater spraying into the cylinder(74) through a nozzle(42) above the cylinder top. A spray unit(40) is connected to the wastewater supply pipe(5) and has an air inlet pipe(60) with one end open to the outer air and the other end being in the nozzle mouth(42) to be concentric to cause venturi effect for air suction. The sprayed water flows downward through the cylinder(70) to spout over the cone shaped surface of a diffuser(84) placed under the cylinder bottom opening and braced by bars(82) fixed to tank(30) wall at a distance from the bottom floor. The spouted water flows up through the space(32) between the cylinder wall and the tank wall to return back into the cylinder by the top opening while compressed air is blown in the water through inlets in the tank wall from a compressor to help aeration. The wastewater with sufficient aeration is transferred through the outlet(22) in the bottom to a next tank or to the original supply pipe(50). The compact unit size of the aerator makes it easy to move or install.</p> |
