PURPOSE: A control apparatus is provided to display character information signal of a radio broadcasting on a television display. CONSTITUTION: A control apparatus comprises a tuner(102), a character information replayer(1000), a controller(114), signal selectors(106, 109) and a cathode-ray tube(111). The tuner selects a station channel of a character information broadcasting signal. The character information replayer(1000) converts the character information broadcasting signal to a character signal. The controller(114) controls the character signal and a video signal of the television according to a user's selection. The signal selectors(106, 109) selectively output the character signal, the video signal, or a mixed signal of them according to a control signal from the controller. The cathode-ray tube(111) displays the output signal from the signal selector.
