PURPOSE: A plat panel display apparatus and a control method for the apparatus is provided to control an image location, automatically. CONSTITUTION: A flat display apparatus with the automated function of controlling image position detects a valid starting point of video data from video signals that a host-computer provides when the automated function of controlling image position works. In other words, we detect the time difference from the starting point of a horizontal synchronization signal to the starting point of valid video data, and generate the address number for reading memory that the video signal is written on. In the case for displaying image of leaning to right side or left side, we don't need to control it manually case by case in order to control its symptom, but we can control the position of the image with inputting the key value of the automated controlling.
